As our chosen location was a shed
within one of the band members garden we didn’t have too much trouble having to
book anything out to rent although because the shed wasn’t sound proof we had
to be careful of how much sound we was making and had to make sure we didn’t film
late at night as we found that may be disrespectful so we resulted in filming
our first lot of filming of Paper Shop Dave during the day. Thankfully the
weather for this day of shooting was nice and bright which was one of the obstacles
we were worried about that we may have had to overcome.
One of the couple of troubles we
came across was that whilst filming we realised that we hadn’t deleted previous
footage off the memory card so we had to take a break and sit down and delete
footage which was not needed which resulted in our time scale being altered.
Another problem we had was that we struggled to find good angles straight away
in the shed as it isn’t an open space so we struggled to be able to fit the whole
of the band members within the shot. Finally another minor problem we had to
overcome was the battery went whilst we was filming so we had to delay the
shooting for a short while to charge the battery which was also very time
consuming so we decided to make sure that we had two ready charged battery’s
for next time we filmed. For our first location we finally completed the
filming up to the standard we wanted and were happy with so we then went onto
edit the beginning of the music video.
As well as the shed we planned to
have another location which was Attenborough Nature Reserve where we planned to
film the second part of our music video which was with Jess playing ‘Arabella’
within our music video. The weather for this day wasn’t ideal as it was freezing
cold which therefore created an attitude which wasn’t positive as we felt like
we wanted to simply get it over with at the beginning. Fortunately after I and
Jordan got into it we felt more comfortable within our roles of directors and
producers. We also found the positives within the weather as we did want Jess
to dress as she was in winter so it helped emphasise this reason. Because this
location was outside we didn’t plan to use any other lighting sources which I
thought was a good idea because it wasn’t needed. Whilst filming Jess we told
her to simply act herself because we didn’t want her to look structured which
is why our filming of Jess is simply short shots of herself sitting on benches,
walking along a bridge and standing around. Within our planning we decided to
involve a close up of Arabella texting someone followed by a smile which would
give off the affect that someone within the band had texted her because we
thought we could then film the band at this same location. Unfortunately our
time management wasn’t good enough for us to pursue this so we decided that for
our first draft we wouldn’t involve this part as we hadn’t had chance to film
the part of Paper Shop Dave performing at Attenborough Nature Reserve. Within
our filming we thought we had used a numerous of shots to outline our skills
including of an establishing shot, Close ups, Pans, Tracking, Extreme Close ups
and the list continues so overall we was quite happy with our first draft
because we had already pointed out ourselves what we wanted to change and what
we needed to re film to enable for us to gain a good level without our feedback
from our teachers and peers.
